Rachel & Amy

We became best friends 15 years ago- finding each other in Chicago and then supporting and loving each other as our life journeys have taken us individually to live in Australia, Asheville, Madison, and England.  But no matter the distance between us, we always cherish connecting over our love of the world and all that shines. Now our beautiful friendship has grown into creating our second collaborative book!  We are delighted to bring Star in the world together and hope that you will be as inspired by her as we are.

 Rachel Durchslag is the author of “While I Walk: Solo Adventuring in the Vast, Beautiful World” (www.whileiwalk.com).  She is an avid hiker who has spent the last seven years trekking the world’s most magnificent mountain ranges. When not traveling and writing, Rachel works in alternative medicine, providing therapies to help people recover from trauma. Previously, she founded and served as the Executive Director of the Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation, a nonprofit dedicated to ending the harm of sex trafficking and sexual assault. 

 Amy is a world traveling artist and educator with a Masters in Interdisciplinary Arts in her back pocket and a plethora of passion projects in the works. She’s a deep-diving dreamer who doesn’t believe in strangers or coincidences. Thanks to her quirky art-heart and sweet spirit guides paving her path, Amy gets to share her light with her beloved wife Marla and adorable rescue animals while connecting with lovely kindred spirits like you all along the way.
